Here’s a post from Old Bombay:

We lost one of the greatest exponents of natyasangeet of the modern era.. Pt
Ramdas Kamat.
Under the able music direction of Pt Jitendra Abhisheki bua, he immortalised
marathi natya sangeet.

His 'Pratham tuj paahta' from 'Mumbaicha jaawai' (from which movie, 'Piya ka
ghar' was adapted) still remains an all time favorite.
His most memorable plays based on 'Natya Sangeet' include Sangeet Sharada,
Sangeet Matsyagandha and others. Who can forget his rendering of 'Deva gharche
gnyat kunala' from Sangeet Matsyagandha? He was known for his mastery over
'sur' and perfect diction.

Born in Goa, he graduated in Economics, simultaneously learning Hindustani
Classical music. His karmbhoomi was always Bombay.

His son is an established pediatrician in Vile Parle. A friend of all kids in
the neighbourhood.
I always feel I should have been born little earlier, just so I could
experience the music of the golden era, Pt Ramdas Kamat ji kept that music
alive and presented it even at his ripe age, enabling people of my generation
to relive that bygone era.
Bhaavpoorna shraddhanjali to this immensely talented actor-singer

The veteran singer and actor Ramdas Kamat, from Goa, passed away yesterday (Jan
8, 2022). To generations of Goans and Maharashtrians he was one the central
figures of the post-revival period of the Marathi musical.
