Hei Folks, I have to agree with Bhandare that in the case of the recent paedophile controversy, the pope and his clergy have been trying desperately to cover up for the paedophiles. It is not possible for anyone to defend the indefensible and I am afraid the pope and his men are just as guilty for abetting in the cover up instead of coming out and exposing the crimes.
What were they thinking about by moving these criminals around. Were they pretending they could make the problem disappear? They would have had much greater moral credibility had they dealt with the problem and exposed these people. I think it is right for Bhandare to point out the churches complicity in attempting to cover up the crimes. It has deeper implications, I agree. I think the church should be prosecuted separately for negligence and for actively attempting to the cover up serious crimes. Of course Bhandare is right to say that the people who contribute to the church coffers have a responsibility to ask serious questions from the church for the cover up. They are entitled to know and ensure that systems are in place to prevent repetition. Bhandare is right to expect satisfactory responses from church supporters rather then get side tracked and distracted with Hindu Nationalist crimes which even if true does not make the churches crimes right. Now does it. The church has been complicit in a cover up. I do not think it is anything to do with condoning the crimes but a callous attempt to sweep these awful crimes under the carpet out of embarrassment. Of course the cat was out of the bag and the church was exposed for what it is. The church worrying about its image above morals deprives it of any moral authority. It is patently unacceptable behaviour from a institution supposedly holding the high moral ground. It is wholly indefensible. I apologise for the joke I made of Bhandare's chump logic and axioms :))). Silly of me I know but I hope he wont mind. It was done out of context and unfair to Bhandare. regards
