000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 HERALD CORRESPONDENT MAPUSA, JULY 19 - A group of residents in Calangute busted a prostitution racket in the village, after nabbing three youth involved in the illicit trade. The 150-odd villagers thrashed the youth P K Singh (Jharkhand), Harish Kumar and Deepesh (both from Karnataka) before handing them over to Calangute police on Wednesday night. Incidentally, police was initially reluctant to take action in the matter. It was only when local MLA Agnelo Fernandes intervened, that Calangute police arrested the youth. According to police, the three youth were operating a massage parlour in Calangute, from where they ran a prostitution racket. Some residents smelt a rat in the entire activities and busted the racket, by catching hold of the three youth.
