A friend of mine once told me he had eaten a frog and how delicious it was - and that ! should try it.
Now, I am no frog eater and have never been but seeing my friend drooling saliva there surely must be something more to it I thought at the time. And there certainly is - something more to it. Our political frogs as everyone living in Goa has witnessed at one time or another have been doing poli-frogging of one kind or another and have been eating us? Who is the greatest political Frog? Political thinkers who want to make this subject into an intellectual discipline need to use the tried-and-tested empirical method and draw up a list of frogs who have frog-leaped - more than once. Can we assume once is okay? Yes, I think so as a lot of politicians start out idealistic but gradually the rain clouds gather. They are similar to monks and nuns who in their youth have a different view of life than in their later years. A trajectory of the psychology of life? Frogs come in all shapes and sizes and colors and blood types. People who make much of the poll which made Goa independent of Maharashtra are fools and worse than frogs. They can’t think but a frog can! Mopa is my baby! said senior Rane several years ago. He has been amply rewarded for his economic unification with a lifetime achievement award. In a democracy how it can happen I do not understand but in the magic world of Goan frog political culture it has! Mine not to question why but to do and die? Anyway, I propose the chair (or is it chairs?) he has sat on during his various stints as Chief Minister be placed in a museum of political leaders so future generations can admire his great achievement. It is a rightful claim. No sitting frog has ever been able to jump for obvious reasons but what an almighty jump Digamber Kamat has performed. He wove circles around the late Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who was an IIT graduate but blacked out when Digamber Kamat did his spectacular jump from BJP to Congress Party and became Chief Minister - something Bruce Lee nor Jackie Chan could never have managed to perform! Mining scam? What mining scam? Now please help me, tell me which frog is smarter - sitting frog or jumping frog?
