If the Congress had merit with the voters, it should have won the seats on its own without counting on a unified opposition to the BJP.
What’s to say that a seat sharing agreement could be arrived at by the opposition. Each party however minor would feel they would definitely win. That’s probably what happened since they did not come to such an agreement. The author’s conclusion is unfair - that the RGP was a B-team of the BJP. I think this has been a good experience for the RGP for its future standing. You cannot expect a new party to go from 0 to 60 in 3 seconds. Roland.
