He reminds me of John Wayne who rides his horse at the head of the posse into the sunset. Or General McArthur and other great generals who never die - only fade away.
But then Dr Sawant is young, much younger than the others. He still has a few rounds of ammunitions in him as yet. Dr Sawant was the head of the BJP government in Goa until his resignation a few days ago. Don’t bring out the champagne as yet - people who do not like him - it is a bit premature, wouldn’t you say? The credit for the BJP success in Goa goes to Dr Sawant as the credit for the dismal performance of the Congress Party goes to Chodankar, Chidambaram and last but of course not least is Digambar Kamat. Now Dr Sawant is out of the way and so Viswajit Rane son of Pratap Singh Rane probably will be crowned Chief minister. His father has a lot of pull and a lot of strings. Will the top BJP be willing to take a chance with Mauvin Godhino as Deputy Chief Minister a member of the minority community - I wonder. He may end up looking like and ending like the previous Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’sousa. Big and cold shoes to step into which may not make for a perfect fit. Dr Sawant will be leaving us soon, the chosen and anointed one of Manohar Parrikar and a loyal RSS soldier. He will move up and be carried away like a taoist straddling the stratosphere leading to an important seat in the central cabinet in Delhi. Balloon Man Dr Sawant, Bon voyage!
