This very popular farewell song can be sung in many contexts. A parting of
friends gathered in summer, the departure of a bride or groom from their house
to get married, a dear householder departing for foreign shores, a young man
going to take a job far away. Whatever be the need to sing this song, the words
embrace it all.

I share this mando to mark the sudden and untimely departure of Melvyn
Fernandes. I never knew him, except for his posts on Goanet, but I could sense
a kindly person, who loved to communicate and give his time to those around
him. If that be true than this ageless mando encompasses his memory with its
own loving lyrics and aids Melvyn’s transition in a manner that soothes those
of us who hear it.

Hope it helps his wife Rose in her grief.
