A Reuters team of photographers consisting of four Indians, including the late
Danish Siddiqui, were awarded a Pulitzer Prize last night for “images of
Covid’s toll in India that balanced intimacy and devastation, while offering
viewers a heightened sense of place”, according to the Pulitzer Prizes website.
Meanwhile, the Indian government is desperately fighting the facts about the
death toll.

Ghastly scenes from 1 year ago this week. Those @Reuters photos shamed the
Indian govt & showed the world what was happening here. With their
@PulitzerPrizes, no one can call this fake news any more.

This is Danesh’s second Pulitzer after the one highlighting the Rohingya Crisis
in 2018. He was killed while covering combat events in Afghanistan in 2021.
