The affected Americans put up a legal battle with the US authorities and they were later joined in by the affected Vietnamese who claimed compensation. On the US side, no recognition of the atrocities was acknowledged and as far as I know, the case has either been closed or is still in progress. It is most unlikely that the US victims will be compensated. I do not know why the Vietnamese took their case to the French government where it was dismissed and they too received no compensation. They have taken it higher up. The chances are that in both cases the right to commit atrocities with impunity will prevail and we shall be reminded once again about core values and Christian double standards. What the Germans did to the Jews and other minorities was genocidal and so much is said about it, and quite rightly so but the very same nations that condemn genocide against the Jews conveniently ignore the genocide they committed against the people of North and south America, Australia, and other "non-genocidal atrocities" against colonized people in which millions of people were murdered and the quality of millions of lives destroyed. In comparison, the holocaust is just a footnote. The civilized, concepts of universal basic human rights and freedom for all humans is a relatively new concept practiced since about the late 1950s and here also it is practiced selectively thanks to core values.
