Hi Gilbert

I do not expect you to accept what I have to say re the Catholic Church and its co-existence with caste in Goa. This will be spelt out fully (as said before) in a substantial paper in the international press. I have much of the evidence I need already so please do not worry on this count.

On another point, you seem to find nothing wrong (or worth commenting on) about some of the failings of the Catholic Church when the papers are full of recent accounts among priests and the need to compensate those abused to the tune of billions of dollars. Paradoxically, the Catholic Church has helped a lot of poor people very considerably in the USA.

Re Eric Pinto, he may well have contributed to the poor (and also the Church) as you say but I have his views (written by himself) on his caste position deriding other Goans, in clearly, an unguarded moment of his on Goanet. Perhaps you and he might throw more light on this matter that interests me particularly. And yes, I did have a close relation who was a priest. He was most critical of caste in the priesthood and in the Church in Goa. My interest on this matter began with my long conversations and record of what he said were authenticated with dates etc. What he said was echoed by one other priest who was also an academic. Further, I have a substantial file of papers from a Goan priest who was harassed by the Church for being strongly anti-caste and had to leave his calling. He gave me the file of official correspondence hoping I would write about what had happened in his case. Clearly, I won't tell you what else I have! You can do your utmost to distract me from my objective of drawing from my evidence but it just isn't working. Is it?

I hope this will not be your last post on these issues---you too have a long way to go to renounce and denounce the evil of caste among Catholic Goans. But it seems clear to me why you want me to stop pressing home this point. You must find the implicit hypocrisy therein incredibly embarrassing and is only just seeing the light of day.
Regards
Cornel

PS re Fascism, one does not see much about this concept going back 5000 years. By and large it has been studied as a modern day phenomenon of the twentieth century. I suggest you check your facts before displaying so much ignorance to Goanetters on this topic. Further, you confuse the concepts of authoritarianism and fundamentalism in the RSS as Fascism. It is fascistic in orientation but has yet to be labelled by scholars as Fascist on par with Hitler, Mussolini and Franco. Mosley in the UK was a small scale fascist in the UK. I hope this is not too complicated for you when dabbling with issues that are well out of your depth!

 Hi Cornel,

You have good essay-writing skills. Yet that is not the criteria to be a "practicing scholar". (a bit presumptuous - would you not say?). In fact this thought-precess is one that I would say, is similar to a Goan casteist. Do you think you behaved as a scholar in accusing the church of casteism, when you had no evidence to support that charge?
