INCREASE IN RAINFALL OVER GOA FROM 18TH AND POSSIBILITY OF VERY HEAVY RAINFALL FROM 20TH JUNE 2022·
With the possible strengthening of pressure gradient along the west coast and wind convergence, rainfall activity is very likely to increase gradually in the coming days over North & South Goa.· Heavy rainfall (rainfall>64.4mm in 24 hrs) at a few places with Very heavy rainfall (rainfall>115.5mm in 24 hrs) at isolated places is very likely over both districts on 20th&21st June. Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places on 18th & 19thJune. Short intense spells and winds gusting to around 40kmph likely along with the rainfall spells. There are indications as per the numerical weather predication models of IMD that the increased rainfall activity is likely to continue in the second half of next week. Fishermen are advised not to venture along and off South Maharashtra-Goa-Karnataka coasts for 5 days from 18th June 2022. The warnings are issued based on latest observations and numerical weather prediction model guidance.
