Goan sailors need appreciation The economy of Goa is fuelled by inward remitances of scarce foreign exchange At the time of elections Govt and candidates make tall promises to win votes , then raise up hands in helplessness and mere mention in Assembly. THE covid pandemic has badly affected their gsinful employment..Govt floats various welfare schemes and this must receive priority as many seniors are in dire need of this paultry pittance In order to boost foreign exchange reserves the Govt devises various schemes with incentives to promote exports THE inward remittances of sailors are huge and for which Govt does not incurr any expense.The sailors toil over long hours without weekly off , separation from families and have no facility of pension .Besides reemployment is delayed over months but still Govt deducts income taxes too without reference to unemployed period. In the financial year The Govt at least on account of benefits it gets must consider grant of pension a legitimate exercise in gratitude of gains to National exchequer. The Govt owes this responsibility without any excuse of delay and to beg and plead
