Navelim people ungrateful
I fully support the writings of Santana Afonso and second him totally in
saying that Navelim Constituency under the leadership of Luizinho never
benefitted much.
In the early eighties, during the early tenures of Luizinho as MLA,
Aquem-Alto was part of Navelim constituency and under the care of
Luizinho -- never did he ...not once pay any visit to that part of town as
he knew eventually it would be drawn into Margao.
Luizinho would only show his teeth in his crumpled safari suit at the finals
of the Sabestian D Cunha memorial football tournament which the Aquem Youth
Club organised on costa grounds every monsoon.
There are only a few croonies of Luzinho who have actually thrived in his
tenure. In the recent elections the people of Navelim showed great maturity.
If you really want to see development of a different kind look at the
profile of Luzinho and his family -- The Former Margao MLA, the late Babu
Naik paid for Luizinho's deposit for his first election campaign in the
80s...today Luizinho boasts of being one of the highest tax-payers in Goa,
there are autobiographies he paid some journalists to write about him. There
are Islands he and his sons own, there are resorts, his son Ravi, is one of
the directors of the much controversial Metha Strips...
That is development -- although you cannot term that people development, it
is definately what the people of Navelim recently realised -- that all this
while as they were suffering due to lack of basic ammenities in the
constituency, Luizinho and his family was living like a king, that too not
in Navelim, but at a palatial bungalow in Borda below the Monte Hill.
