Surfing Youtube the other day, I chanced on this Robin Vaz/Cecilia Machado song, "Sitaram Gaddiwala," from Sukachem Sopem. My maternal grand-uncle, M. Alphonso, is cited as the musical director of this film from the 1960s. The song used to play quite frequently over the afternoon Konkani music program on All India Radio ages ago, as my cohorts here might recall, and they may be pleased to know (sigh) that I scolded myself for having been too caught up in other stuff to share here some more about the self-effacing musician's contributions to Konkani music, which I threatened to do not too long ago in these here pages.
