I have today been approached by the individuals who want to commemorate this event. The S.S. TILAWA is the ship on which I lost my parents and three very young siblings in 1942 when the ship was torpedoed by the Japanese while on its voyage from Bombay to East Africa..There were several survivors and several lost their lives too. The organisers are asking if there are any individuals among our people who may recall this tragedy or anything connected with it. If any of you can help, I'd be grateful to hear from you. They are also hoping to make a documentary of the TILAWA and I have approached my friend, David Elstein, former Chief Executive of Channel 4 to see if he can advise.
