UNO HAS IT OUTLIVED ITS UTILITY? The UNO wasc instituted after second world War.The aim was to prevent third world war and disastrous consequences on humanity and environment.Perhaps it has avoided third world by diplomacy, pressure and threat to use force.Today Israel, Pakistan , India, Iran , North Korea are flexing nuclear muscle. Localized wars between Iran Iraq. Ukraine Russia ,India Pakistan, Pakistan East Pakistan ,India, USA AFGHANISTAN, India China and flash points In Afghanistan. Kuwait, North South Korea, China Taiwan, Shri Lanka, Africa, where the writh of UNO has not preve. nted bloody wars and blood shed The veto as was envisaged then is undoing the very purpose of negating settlements between waring parties.The major powers are thenselves flouting the guidelines with impunity.Economic sanctions has not cured the malaise of armed conflicts .Peace keeping forces had subtle effects on rogue Nations .The majority of Nations have not much say to enforce the UNO charter.The brinkmanship of Russia is threatening a nuclear holocaust with its military might and adventurism against all canons of international order, respect for sovereignty and secure borders It is time to revamp the UNO charter giving other Nations a definite say The might of core Nations have not prevented localized and internal armed conflicts and expansiost streaks and to that extent the effectiveness of UNO is redundant.Anew charter without veto powers and the combined voice of all Nations is imperative to enforce its will for which it exists Though armed intervention could be a measure but dangers of escalation by belligerent Nations cannot be ruled out The revamp of UNO charter is perhaps waiting to embark post third world war?
