It is a matter of anguish and concern when elected persons lie and that too so blatantly. That Union Minister Smriti Irani was so silly to think that she could get away by lying that her family had nothing whatsoever to do with that plush Silly Souls Café & Bar at Assagao.
Now there is abundant documented evidence that the company owned by her family had a significant stake in that restaurant. Despite knowing all these facts, she intentionally chose to lie which is even more serious. She owes an apology to the Nation whom she tried to take for a ride. It seems a cruel twist of fate that the name of her Café and Bar, Silly Souls would characterize her actions. We live in a time where people are crying out for leaders of honesty, sound integrity, character, and work ethics. Integrity by its definition, means adhering consistently to a strong reliable code of ethics. Billy Graham the famous evangelist advised us that ‘When wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; but when character is lost, all is lost’. Governments are known to abuse Power, but the BJP have excelled in this as never seen before. The Party has proven its skills in lying and twisting facts while taking people for a ride. Their expertise in propagating falsities is outstanding. With the BJP working overtime on all sorts of politriks, Governance has gone for a toss. The Truth must always prevail, and Justice must be done and be seen to be done without fear or favour if we are to restore Goa to a State where the Rule of law is always respected.
