Politics has always been a Devil's cocktail and it continues to be circulating in a vicious circle.
Mostly the Goan Salcette community spill some blood to have Konkani recognised in their Devnagiri script. What was lacking is the vacuum between Hindu and Catholic community each wanting to outsmart the other. For some, Liberation means Devnagiri script and those who believe it was an Invasion (which I believe it is) stuck to the language as part of Invasion. If Goans had the foresight someone should have made the move r owne Invasion little after 19 December 1961. Some sharp Goans wanted to present a document to UN but then money is the issue. Kind regards. Oscar The euphoria of having Goa (for someone who were very keen to rid GOA from the colonial clutches) they found the relevance of Devnagiri closer to Marathi. Bandodkar and his people made way for their script and 20th August was the date when the language was recorded among the India's schedule of languages. Apparently, many Goans spilled their blood to recognise Konkani in Devnagiri script. Mr Bandodkar and his followers including top Catholic Goans did support the script until realisation hit the fan. Miguel/Milton, there is a need to be careful to make good any discrepancies but the question is who will bell the cat.
