I thought Digambar would run govt efficiently: Dhavalikar NT Staff Reporter
Panaji, July 26 The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party MLA, Mr Ramkrishna Dhavalikar today said that the slow progress made by the administration under the Digambar Kamat government prompted the MGP to withdraw its support to the government. Mr Dhavalikar, who has resigned as the minister for public works department, told reporters that the MGP supported the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party government by respecting the mandate of the people as the Congress-NCP alliance was the largest group in the House. I thought that Mr Kamat would run the state administration in an efficient manner, he said, adding, Unfortunately, he could not even distribute the portfolios, in the first place. Then the agitation of the St Cruz MLA, Ms Victoria Fernandes began in support of her demand for a place in the cabinet, the MGP MLA said, pointing out that the Chief Minister could not even retain the home and finance portfolios, which are normally held by the head of the government. Furthermore, he said, the second round of distribution of portfolios was never held. Even my portfolio of science and technology was truncated with the environment department going to another minister, Mr Dhavalikar lamented. The performance aspect has forced the MGP to support the Goa Democratic Alliance, Mr Dhavalikar said, adding that he has made no specific demands with the GDA for this support. I want all of us to stay together and provide a better government to the state, he concluded. http://www.navhindtimes.com/articles.php?Story_ID=072712 Cip
