Pontius Pilate murderer of innocent Jesus The date of his birth or place and parentage are unknown. It is rumoured that he was illegimate son of a king in Germany He is called Governor of Judea but a head stone in archaeological records designated him as Prefect of Judea.There is no record of any outstanding merit He enjoyed his placement, position due to a friend with very close connection with the Emperor He was a psychopanth .To curry favour with the Emperor he placed the inages of the Emperor for worship slighly at night.He tried to stir anti semetism.The Jews violently rose up in arms.He was ruthless , arrogant, coward and suppressed the revolt brutally.As the Jews remained adamant ,ready for the worst, Pilate withdrew the offensive images; but to irritate and instigate put pagan symbols on the coins ,which they had to handle regularly and reluctantly He was aware of the miracles and work of Jesus. He therefore sent Jesus to Herod for trial quoting jurisdiction of Galilee Once again King Herod redirected Jesus to Pilate for the trial He ignored the suggestion of his wife not to get involvelled with the holy man In the sham of a trial he could not find any offense to crucify Jesus.He was frightened of the pressure of the Jews and threat to his seat of power.Brfore condemning Jesus he washed his hands to absolve himself of any remorse and guilt.As per custom he could release any criminal.The crowds shouted vociferously in unision to crucify Jesus in preference to Barabas.He therefore had the alibi of following set procedure , tradition and custom.Christ did not offer any defense and underwent the sanctioned order and manner of crucifixion Today Pilate lives along with Christ in the Gospels and Apostle creed.He is mentioned daily at Eucharistic celebration all over the world."" HE WAS CRUCIFIED BY PONTIUS PILATE.No mention of circumstances or that it was unfair or unjust. His name is thus perpetuated.The church has modified the text of our father mysteries ,litany angelous , act of contrition but given undue publicity to Pontius Pilate and the name must be obliterated.Hence the greatest achievement, if any is the unjust spilling of blood of jesus. He inscribed the infamous title on the cross , ordered guarding of the tomb and permitted Nicodemus to do last rites of burrial He was released of his post and asked to appear before the emperor. It was in connection with brutally suppressing the revolt of installing the images of Emeror for worship.The emperor died before adjucating the matter and not the crucifixion of Christ There are different versions of his death.He retired and in exile committed suicide.Yet another rumour is that he was ordered to kill himself It is not clear about the name of his wife or whether she was married at all.She is mentioned once and her intervention in the trial of Jesus Some say he asked for forgiveness and that both were converted to christianity.Some worship them as martyrs and saints but it is all in the realm of speculation Nelson Lopea Chinchinim
