Hei Chinmay Bhandre, Can I thank you for answering the questions I put you in a way that I could understand. If I understood what you said I am sure a lot of other readers would have to. It does not follow that they may not want to take issue with you. As far as I am concerned I hear what you say.
In question 4. Do you hold catholic church goers responsible for the paedophilia of the Church clergy? NO. The Church is guilty of condoning it once it happened. Had the church reacted immediately and taken action no one could blame the church. I can see what you are saying and I quibble here. I see condoning=forgive or implying forgiveness as in the def 5 below. But you would go for 2 condoning= silence seemed condoning. The dictionary defines it as follows. 1. to disregard or overlook (something illegal, objectionable, or the like). 2. to give tacit approval to: By his silence, he seemed to condone their behavior. 3. to pardon or forgive (an offense); excuse. 4. to cause the condonation of. 5. Law. to forgive or act so as to imply forgiveness of I gave a plausible reason why the church would have remained silent. I feel that the church remained silent because the church did not want to wash its dirty linen in public. No one let alone Gov, political parties or institutions like to self destruct their image in public. I do not know if you would go along with that. In question 5. Do you see church contributions as contribution to paedophilia in the Church? YES. I can almost anticipate why you say YES. I expect that contributions to a charity front that finds its way to a terrorist organisation is seen as contributing to terrorism. Contributors are held responsible for the final destination of their contributions. I contend that you see the same applies to church contributions. As the church is not a business concern and financies are mainly based on church contributions. Many including myself would disagree with you here. The reason is this. The church has been around too long for people to be hoodwinked by a church which really is a front for social immorality. Church people are unlikely to tolerate this affront in their name. In fact I have more faith in the common man then any religious organisation. Again thanks. I hope it has cleared the air somewhat. The more you can inform people, I believe, they will have less cause to fear you and even have a normal discourse with you. regards
