Rafael Barreto's name is long lost to history. In his time, as professor of pharmacy and etnoparmachologist at *Escola Medica, *he studied and documented a considerable number of plants indigenous to Goa, for its medicinal and other uses. His many publications in Portuguese lie dormant in the libraries and archives.
