Konkanni as the spoken language survived suppression by foreign rule.It was called the lingua franca of Ayas , cooks and butlers (ABC).ROMANCES, Vauradeancho Ixtt,tiatrists and Khell tiatro was the survival oxygen.Tiatr were not patronised by high and mighty as of now.The artist were not kindly looked upon ,specially for lady artist it was a taboo and a social stigma.Konnkanni schools have folded up.and so too lonkani dailies .Fr Fredy legacy continues and so too one last page of Heraldo .Konkanni for donkey years was not represented by devanagri script. There is variance of spoken konkonni in Ponda, Bardez and Salcette.The Devanagri Konkanni as taught in schools ,the words are not akin to what we commonly understand, speak but adulterated with align language.and borrowed words from Marathi The revised popular movement for the script is worth the consideration and is gaining ground and support from local bodies at grass root level. Today DKA and TAG are doing immense service in the promotion, popularization and preservation of Goan culture ,ethos and traditions .The Govt support is half hearted.
