The "BeesInGoa Network" on WhatsApp was started in December 2022 and is managed by the Corjuem-based beekeeper Savio da Cunha +91 97648 94212. It had just a few entrants but has grown to around 186 members. The goal of group is bringing awareness about bees, honey, and their importance in agriculture for cross pollination. This is more important since bees are turning scarce in many villages, due to factors like deforestation and the growth of concrete jungles. Bees are called farmers' friends, if the bees are around or visit the farmers fields, their yield increases. There are different types of bees like Apis Dosarta (rock bees), Apis mellifera, Apis cerena, Apis Florea and Trigona stingless bees. Bees in Goa Network concentrates on rearing the species Apis Cerena Indica and Trigona Stingless bees. The BeesInGoa group has beekeepers from across many of Goa's villages. People who wish to learn beekeeping are also welcome to join this group. It is free and open to all. Expect helpful guidance and pointers to upcoming bee trainings too. https://chat.whatsapp.com/Je6q0MILttG65qiAYCOazu
