Bruno was born to Mr .& Mrs.David / Filomena Leitao on 06.10 1980 .He was youngest among 3 brothers ,Piety/ Ninosca & Conisius /Debra who always surrounded him in comfort zone of family , along with,neighbours and friends. "A city built on a Mountain cannot be hidden ".and so is the spiritual and social life of Fr Bruno .His never give up die hard attitude, persistence with determination, achieved ordinary goals with extra ordinary zeal. It won him legions of friends , admirers.Ordained priest on 26.01.2011 by Rev.Dr.Filipe Neri Ferrao, Archbishop of Goa , Daman at Se Cathedral ,Old Goa. He offered thanks giving Mass at O.L.Hope Church Chinchinim on 05.02.2011 EDUCATION. Studied till std II at St Mary's, completed SSC at MMHS.A voracious reader ,excelled in studies at Minor/ Major Seminaries and Co Curicular activities. Silently motivated by Irene Cardoso and inspired by the founder Franciscan Friars ,he embraced the order in 1996 and joined Minor Seminary at Modi ,Navelim. He completed Std XII Commerce at Roasy HSS. and graduation at Karwar . .Temporary profession on 26.8.2001,Perpetual profession on 17.5.2009. Diaconate on 03.7.2010.He had a break due to medical reasons but rejoined the Noviate. God had plans to save him from jaws of serious, fatal accidents .Higher studies in Marriage and family in Rome (2017-2019), was his grand vision ,as family welfare ,conflict resolutions , counselling, building broken martiages, reconciliations was his mission to motivate and strengthen family unions and faith RESPONSIBILITIES...Vocation Promoter Economo of the Province and fraternities.Held for two terms post of Provincial Council.Served as Councilor and Vicar Provincial..Manager of St Anthony"s H.School at Monte de Guirim. Served as Treasurer at the house and then took charge as treasuer of the Province .First Novice Master in the Province (2020-21) to promote intentions, vows etc.In California, USA for 3 months , his talk on Child abuse was widely applauded and appreciated.He was accredited as a popular,forceful, convincing , and captivating speaker ACTIVITIES His fluency and command over English enabled him to assist students in academic field.A centre of attraction, a Toastmaster was much in demand at all celebrations, spiritual and social.His first love was football which enabled him to inculcate discipline and attract youth towards spiritual and social services .Represented Union of Chinchinim Villagers in THIRD Division, participated in exhibition match between Diocesan Priest V/S Capuchins ,besides representing University in soccer and other fotball tournaments ..Fr Bruno Leitao Memorial soccer tournament at Chinchinim by U.C.Villagers for 3 years since 2023 is the most fitting tribute..The locals clubs conducted an exhibition Match in his honour too. He used the medium of sports to inculcate discipline and galvaize youth for spiritual and social services .He led Pilgrimages to Mexico from California and to Holy Land from Goa.He was deputed to Gulf countries to advance missionary work.He was a powerful preacher .and man of prayers He visited Schools, Colleges ,Parishes to deliver talks, conducted retreats, emphasizing value education A devotee of BVM was annointed by Holy Spirit .He built a beautiful grotto at home in Her honour .Promoted dignity of manual labour, after joining novitiate displayed charity towards poor and deserving in a focused manner. He was generous in sharing his personal assets. and belongings Fr Bruno was a beacon of hope , wisdom whose successful and satisfactory mission in the vineyard of the Lord was extinguished too early. A shining star on horizon is lost forever . It remains an enigma wrapped in mystery .He had a short life of 10 years of Priesthood in comparison with 33yrs of Christ , St.Xavier's 46 yrs , St Francis Assissi 44 years, St .Theresa of Child Jesus 24 years and Carlos Accuti 15 years.He believed in the motto of St. Domnic of any task " Do it well" He lived a full , satisfied , personal and spiritual life." It does not matter how many years you add to life but rather how much life you add to those years". He his legacies of spiritual and social commitment are etched in the hearts and minds of all those whom he touched He passed away on 09. 07.2021 due ignoring ideologically , precautionary measures on Covid and complications arising out of his previous illness.Following covid protocal he was quietly laid to rest at Alverno Friary, Monte de Gurim ,without a sea of humanity from Chinchinim Rev Dr. Felip Neri Ferrao , Archbishop of Goa, Danab sent a condolence message exhalting his gift of life in spreading faith in his brief dedicated journey of life .Fr Seville Antao paid glowing tributes in his funeral oratory comparing his life in someway to that ofJesus , The homily was a soothing balm to tormented , shattered hearts and minds of mourners.He amplified agony , helplessness in his last moments "God why you have abandoned me.Fr Seville , highlighted him as Preacher par excellent, man of prayers , lover of Holy mass, Rosary, Children, magnimous, compassionate in helping others , calmed storms in lives of married and others , healed thro confessions , reconciliation and appreciated leadership, counselling qualities .Father could not stand injustice and reacted very angrily .As the only Novice Master for a year promoted deeper significance of oaths, vows intentions.Fr Seville homile is the best, detailed account avaiable on Fr Bruno that will serve as the corner stone permanent reminder.
