Hi Doc,
About a dozen people suggested the name Tanzania. All those people had their
names put in a hat and Muhammad Iqbal, RIP, was declared the winner.
He was given a reward then of a few shillings.
The "Standard" published the other names suggested and some were quite
interesting. Sooner or later, the clipping of the "honourable mentions" will
appear somewhere. My teachers in school encouraged us to enter the competition
and a neighbour of mine had a name that I really liked.
I cant remember the other suggestions but I did not like "Tanzania" at first.
