It was casino.
And, it was not CopaCabana but Caravela that burnt dow.
Azavedo used to run Caravela at the navegacao in Panjim
& had started the summer filial in Calangute.
I don´t remember if, subsequent to the conflagration that
was caused by the electricity generator, Casino metamorphosed
as Caravela.
I don´t think so; that the Azavedos stuck to Calangute after
his death. His late brother, Joseph, of Capucina was a great friend
of mine.
By the way I have not congratulated you, yet, on your
current magnus opus. Am avidly waiting to read it.
Was to have been down in May-June but health problems
preempted my pleasure.
However, my youngest daughter, Sorella, is in Goa. Will
return begining October & will fetch the treasure.

The only hostelry in the area until mid 1950s were Casino, where present
ugly Tourist Hotel stands and the Sousa Lobo´s seasonal thatched, very
popular establishment.
