Only July 10, 2007, I was at the Mallikarjun Temple in
Gaondongrim, Canacona, and this was the sight at the time -

Exactly a month later, on Aug 9, 2007, this -

The knuckleheads of the temple committee decided to bring
down the tree because it was "obstructing" (what exactly it
was obstructing, no one could tell). This important temple
has a hoary past. Oral tradition has it that the great philosopher
Shankaracharya rested here in the course of his northerly travels.
