Jose Philip to
discuss PDS, Dabolim airport issues with Centre

Vasco, Aug 22 The fair
price consumers in the state would soon avail the increased quota of rice,
wheat, sugar and other necessary household commodities prior to the Ganesh
Chaturthi festival, slated, said the Minister for Civil Supplies and Revenue,
Mr Jose Philip DSouza.Mr DSouza was speaking at the Nationalist Congress
Party office at Vasco before departing to New Delhi along with the
parliamentary secretary, Mr Nilkanth Halankar on Tuesday evening.
Mr DSouza also
informed that he would meet the Union Minister for Agriculture and NCP
president,
Mr Sharad Pawar and the Union Civil Aviation Minister, Mr Praful Patel in Delhi.
Speaking to The
Navhind Times, Mr DSouza clarified that there is no controversy between the
NCP and the Congress over the sports portfolio. He further said that the NCP
legislators would continue to back the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat. He
also told that he had full faith in the Chief Minister, and requested the
people not to fall prey to the false propaganda of the opposition.
Mr DSouza raised
concerns about the quality of essential commodities availed by the people in
the state through fair price shops and assured that he would discuss the public
distribution scheme (PDS) issue with Mr Pawar.
Mr DSouza informed
that he had presented a memorandum to the Union Agriculture Minister after he
took over the charge of Civil Supply and requested him to take necessary steps
to increase the quota of the essential commodities for Goa.
Mr DSouza would also
discuss the up-gradation work of Dabolim airport with the Union Minister for
Civil Aviation, Mr Praful Patel. Mr DSouza and Mr Halankar are likely to
return to Goa on August 25.
