I think social drinking is the best invention since sliced bread, and more
popular too. I've seen old uncles who drink themselves to death - but at
home. I've seen people who don't know how to drink in public make utter
fools of themselves at a wedding or family occasion.
As a practising alcoholic I am quite happy drinking at home, but am even
happier drinking at a bar with good buddies exchanging news, gossip and
curses. I wish someone would tell me why social drinking is so frowned upon
by certain sections of society, who are quite willing to accept alcohol
consumption - but not in bars.

There is nothing wrong sitting in the bar,.You meet friends and you have
discussions. Say at a particular bar John meets sam, peter, francis, leo all
sitting at the table, In the first round one peg large for me and one for
john, In the second round john takes one peg and one for sam, in the third
round peter takes his turn and one peg for me and other for sam and john
,then the barman comes and says it is time for him to close the bar. No one
knows what and how much he is paying and how he is going home and then it
may be you do not reach home and may be you do not see tomorrow either, At
home dad takes one peg, he takes the second peg, he may not take the third
peg as mom will definetly say sam you had two already why the third and she
serves food and he may take the third even and if tight he will go and
sleep, that makes the difference, Secondly one can buy a good stuff( today
good stuff is found only in the dictionary) but at the bar you do not know
what stuff you tend to get.
we can have social activities at the club and not at the bar.
