Nice update on the recent utterances of Churchill Alemao.
When we were kids, we used to chase the 'topio', that is what the chameleon is
called in Romi Koankanni. There was this folkstory that the TOPIO or Chamelleon
deceived Jesus and aided Judas in giving him away, through his nature of
colour-changing as per the circumstances and surroundings around him. And our
weapon used to be the stone flung through the KATTY -- another local game toy
used to drive birds in Goa then...
I guess in Goa most of the politicians rever this chemelon as they change their
colours more than they change their underwear!
I read with utter disgust the 360-degree turn around by Churchill Alemao on the
MOPA issue.
And trust me not the other two causes that Churchill has successfully managed
to convince his followers to oppose were the 6-lane project and the Romi issue,
immediately occured to my mind.
And we have the likes of Wilson Mazerello aka Wilmix sing hossanas of how
Churchill is the saviour of Goans...hick!
And keeping with his own traditions of doing political twists and dancing to
the tunes of who butters his toast or Pao! Churchill has been a curse on Goan
politics. If we can go back to the track record of Churchill -- he has been
doing 360-d turnabouts since the opposing of the Koankan Railway and the Meta
strips.
And now he is all set to introduce his daughter to politics? wah wah!
I often believed that Churchill's victory in the recent polls at Navelim was
not much of his victory, but faced with utter neglect the electorate of Navelim
wanted to teach Luzinho -- who had crossed all boundaries of corruption and
ammased huge fortunes -- a fitting lesson.
When the PDF collapsed in the early 1990s, Ramakant Khalap had rightly said of
Churchill that he is a ponvott and every party he joins, he comes out ruining
it. And the day is not far he will ruin the already runied Congress.
Churchill's recents antics to camouflage the River Sal Casino issue exposes all
his political colours and shows how he takes people for a ride from time to
time and gets away with it.
