The Health Minister was speaking on the occasion of special programme organised by the Kalpaka cultural Association to mark the Onam festivities in the fully packed hall of Mahamaya at Bordem Bicholim. The Bicholim MLA, Rajesh Patnekar, President of the Association, K Bhaskaran; Secretary, Shridharan Gopal and treasurer, K K Prakashan were among others present on the occasion. "It will be our endivour to make the people from other states to feel at home in Goa" Rane stressed adding "our government will always help the association in every possible manner." Speaking about the Goans he lauded the Goans for their unity and told that every goan is peace loving and celebrate the festivals even of other religion or state. "People from other states have made Goa their home and even Goans have established a special bond and relation with them" Rane maintained. Telling that he was unaware about the exsitance of such a large community of tamils in Goa he told that a get together of this kind only strengthens the relation and reminds one of their own hometown. Bicholim MLA, Rajesh Patnekar wished the community on the Onam and told that there are several people from other states leaving in Goa and their associations have done wonderful work for the state. The programme began in the morning at about 8 am. Several cultural programmes were held which included dance and drama. Prizes of the Rangoli competition made out of Flowers were given at the hands of the minister. Usha Prakashan and team begged the first prize while Johney Kutty & Stephen's team and Saroj & team got the second and the third prize respectivelly. In the begining the president of the association, K Bhaskaran welcomed the geathering while later the Treasurer, K K Prakashan proposed the vote of thanks.
