Prostitution

Q.What is prostitution?
A. It is a commercial activity where one is offering or selling sex (Sexual
intercourse etc).

Q. What’s commercial activity?
A. Anything that is exchanged for money (or goods or services or both
including favours etc)
(In this context, sex or body is offered in return for payment etc)

Q. Who is a prostitute?
A. Usually or traditionally it is referred to females only but now-a-days,
males have also
started offering their services to women.

Q. During my college time, I had sex couple of times with our female friends
circle, is this
also prostitution?
A. No, it’s not a commercial activity. It is a consensual sex.

Q. The place where I work, I know a person having sex with her boss. I guess
this is a case of
consensual sex too.
A. Yes, but if she is prematurely promoted to a higher position etc then its
prostitution.
(see ‘Commercial activity’ definition above where goods and services also
included)

Q. The place where I live, I know a lady (housewife, whose husband works in
Bahrain) having
affair or having sex with another man (whose wife works in Kuwait). I guess
this is not
prostitution but consensual sex.
A. This is adultery (something that happens out of wedlock)

Q. How old is this trade?
A.I guess it was even existed before Christ (BC).
In the Bible, Maria Magdalene refered to as prostitute and that’s about 2000
years ago.

Q. What is the Konkani word for 'prostitute'
A. The right work is 'Chelli' but people may also refer ed to as Kolvont,
Pamprel, Fulgollem,
Kolug etc.

Q. That's for female prostitute, what about male prostitute?
A. I guess there is no such word yet but most people may say 'barrao'

Q.Please name some famous Red light Areas that you may or may not have visited
A. Sexyland in Amsterdam where prostitutes openly showing their business to the
public.
Piccadilly in central London where the ladies at the door or counter say to the
prospective
customers or the passerby 'come, come very nice..'
Grant Road in Mumbai (India) where Goans often say ‘Maxenager’ (at aunty’s).

Q.What about in Goa? This trade exists here too?
A. Never heard of Vasco Baina? (now shifted elsewhere). Besides, Gandhi Market
in Goa’s
Commercial city of Margao. In the north, there are some massage parlours where
they also offer
discrete services . Door to door services also available besides supply to
various star or
non-star hotels

Q. Are these all Goan prostitutes?
A. Not really, mostly non-Goans, Nepali and Russians also available.

Q. Can I have more details please like their contacts etc
A. Let me put this straight…
I may be an Imp but I am not a Pimp.
Now, get out!
