The MLA was speaking at the inaugural function of the free legal aid cell at Bicholim organised by the V M Salgaoncar college of law in association with the Vidyavardhak Mandal Bicholim. "The general public should be aware of the existing laws and should know how it can benifit them so that they can chanelise the government machinery in right direction to get their works done" Patnekar said adding "the consumer and the Right to information law are the most beneficial to the public." Congratulating the students for opening the free legal aid cell Patnekar asked them to organise seminars and discussions in the taluka on law after every two months. The faculty cell incharge, Prof Naguesh Colvalkar explained the need of the cells and also told that they are extending their ambit and this year have opened a cell at Banda - Maharastra. During the seminar Adv Dhaktu Pal spoke on Consumer Rights while Adv Mahendra Alornekar delt with the topic Right to information Act. The people who were present on the occasion asked several queries which were answered by the lawyers and the professor. The BMC councillor, Aruna Patnekar, chairman of Vidyavardhak Mandal, Sadashiv Varde Walaulikar were also present on the occasion. In the begining Shradha Navelkar introduced the guests, Shubha Varde Walaulikar comparad the function while later Sanam Shekh proposed the vote of thanks.
