In today's time and age,we are tormented by the grand illusions of the
communist/left and the moral police in this land of the Kamasutra
(written ages before these people existed)! Now we have the controversy
of (Adams Bridge) Ram Setu built by Hanuman, a revered mythological
figure, and the 123 nuclear deal. In Mumbai we have the government
pulled up by the High Court for building a public nuisance wall, to
protect the Sidhivinayak temple frequented by the high and mighty and
film stars/ media idols. In Goa we have idols and crosses posing traffic
hazards which none dare touch or even speak against.Delve deeper into
religious precepts of any community, and you will find events that will
defeat any rational arguments or even scientific experimented and
demonstrated proof !
India lives too much by myth and too little on fact. We have no
compunction spending lavishly for festivals and donating very
generously for construction of opulent religious institutions, whilst
our poor starve and farmers commit suicide. It is impossible to think of
any public venture anywhere in which public money is not being siphoned
off. We have no respect for Law, the pillar of any Democracy. Our
Judicial System creaks along. The Politicians believe,cutting across
party lines, that no educational qualifications are required, and
charges filed for serious offences do not matter, unless convicted in
this System, where power unites the corrupt. And we elect them. Day
after day, with no debate, lacking discipline and decorum, MPs bring
Parliament to a grinding halt Unrestrained belief in astrologers decides
the fate of millions of lives everyday. Mythology is the bedrock of
Indian culture and religion for millions,creating a schism between
belief and scientific reality. To top it all, there are no greater myths
than those floated by politicians and their coterie ( we in Goa are
experiencing much too often).And we continue to perpetuate and be proud of
this.
