Bands and beat groups are busy scouting for musicians from rival groups or are ushering in fresh talent, as they gear up for dances, weddings, parties and beat shows for the forthcoming season. While popular groups like Lynx, Forefront and The Big City Band have managed to keep their members intact, the situation is quite different for other bands, as they find it difficult to keep their band mates together. Renegades have been disbanded as most band members have left for greener pastures. While keyboard player Trevor Mendes, vocalist Michael Fernandes and guitarist Arthur D'Costa have moved to the Gulf, Xavier and Jerry have joined the Crimson Tide. Lead guitarist Errol has joined a gospel band. The Lynx lost their young drummer Joe for a lucrative job on a cruise liner, but netted in a bigger catch with Goa's best-known percussionist, Assumption Nunes, a music teacher and guru to most upcoming drummers. Forefront has added in another member and saxophonist Joaquim Fernandes, a versatile musician who also plays drums and keyboards. The Cascades, who have been successful with female vocalists in the past, will witness yet another change this season. The band's earlier female crooner, Beverelly Menezes, has taken up a job in France and replacing her will be young singer Silvina Lopes. In North Goa, bands such as Alcatrazz, Crimson Tide, Brothers in Arms, India, Blue Waves, Lace and Cream have also got one or two new members for the season. There have been changes among some bands in South Goa as well. While the petite crooner Marushka Rebello and lead guitarist Glen Pacheco have joined Archies, the Silver Strings have replaced Joaquim with Joe (ex-Seby and Wings) on the drums and Gavin has come in to replace guitarist Terrance. Other South Goa bands, including Pure Magic, Big City Band, The Big Country Band, Status 4 and Sky High have so far managed with the same line-up, as the bands are all set to usher in the new season with the latest hits. http://www.oheraldo.in/pagedetails.asp?nid=1652&cid=2
