I feel that Selma, gadgil and other goanet reader should understand what happens when you target hitting on one side. Mr. P V INDIRESAN has put my views on good views. http://intellibriefs.blogspot.com/2007/09/ram-science-and-religious-belief.html Dear Shrikant while Indiresan's greviance about selective rationality is valid, he contadicts himself over science. To expose the hypocrites, one need make twisted arguments. The fallacies in his arguments regarding Science have been tackled often and if needed I shall deal with them on some other day. Permit me instead to add some humour to the ongoing debate: It is said that when a mother truthfully tells the father that "this is your child", she is stating a FACT... However, when the father declares that "this is my child", it is a matter of FAITH... Faith is good, but it might not be a fact... Even when faith is not a fact, it may not be harmful... The problem is when faith declares "to hell with facts"... "what I believe is true and what you say is untrue" The political circus has successfully diverted the real environmental implications of the Sethu Samudran project... and we continue to play God with Mother Nature... wrecking irrevocable havoc with our environment... all for short term economic benefits... And the irony that all the political outfits had no greviance with the project, suddenly take hardened positions when an irresponsible question gets an irresponsible answer... Karunanidhi and the Left are no rationalists... the BJP cannot escape responsibility for kicking off the very project that they now oppose... And the Congress has always been in a state of confusion... BTW, I share your concerns of selective secularism, but additionally I am also concerned with all those who perpetuate irrational beliefs that eventually propogate hate for other communities... Let's target all sides who seek to tear up the tapestry of humankind... regards Pravin Pravin K.
