However,the hype created by the Media , the extensive coverage after we won, Dhoni removing his shirt a la Ganguli, the excessive partying, were warning signs of exhilaration going to the head. The reception to the cricketers which almost brought the whole of Mumbai on the streets, the crorepatis made of even first time players and showers of awards in cash, houses,cars, advertisements etc are mind boggling.Although pardonable at the start, all this creates a false expectation which will be trial by fire as to how they now behave, and moreso if they loose! The same people and media will tear them down! It must be remembered when Kapil Devs team won the world cup,the West Indies won the five match ODI series that followed 5-0, and Kapil was removed as captain thereafter! The Australians are out to do just that. The mindset of a nation that aims to come up and perhaps lead the world, also has great imbalances in prosperity and poverty of its citizens, and therefore needs to be balanced. The hockey and football players are already up in arms. After all it is only a game and win or loose shouldn't matter that much, so long as the game is played well, in what is known as "sportsmen spirit" !
