Today, while tuned into the BBC with some radio-features playing in the background, I heard about the changes taking place in Alberta, due to in-migration, and the many changes wrecked on that place. While we all get worked up about "non-Goans" entering Goa (in some ways, understandably worked-up), I wonder what we feel about the impact that Goans perhaps are causing by their migration elsewhere? Do we apply the same yardsticks for us and for others, or are we only looking at the impact caused by capitalism and hyper-consumerism on this place known as Goa. (And while on this point, I feel a talented, qualified guy like Rajan Parrikar really needs to take on someone of his size... not just panwallahs in Panjim!) Would someone care to comment here? [http://www.flickr.com/photos/fn-goa/1438286426/] Apart from one comment, I see none. Or do we stay silent we we buy our holiday homes or sell our ancestral land to some racketeer politicians-builders and take the money and run?
