Hello John,
I graduated from Loyola High School in Margao, back in 1982. Based on what you
wrote, you definitely did not go to your school in Margao, all the way from
Mapuca or anywhere north of the Zuari river. I remember kids coming to our
school, from as far away as Cortalim - but not beyond.
Most likely, you must have been living within about 10 Km radius of the school.
Places such as Benaulim, Colva, Betalbatim, Seraulim, Nuvem, Raia, Curtorim,
Navelim come to mind. Your best bet would be to hunt for your birth certificate
at the Margao Municipal Office or at the Loyola High School - they should have
your records with them.
I used to be in touch with only one teacher at the school, even after I came to
the US. Her name was Yona Dias, but she died a few years ago at a very young
age. I don't know anybody at the school now. You should be able to look up some
info on the INTERNET and get the contacts of the administrative office. The
best time to get in touch with them is between 9.00 am and 12.00 pm IST.
