In a fetal accident that took place at Gudi Paroda that took place between a
truck and a scooter one Umesh Srikant Gaonkar, age 35 year, resident of
Cumbarwada Sirvoi Quepem dies on the spot.
Police Sources informed herald that the deceased Umesh Srikant Gaonkar was
returning to Quepem on his Vespa Scooter bearing registration No. GA-02-E-2343
from Gudi Kamat hospital to Quepem after attending to one of his relatives and
when he reached on the main road, the truck bearing No.GA-02-U-9669 loaded
with laterite stones and proceeding from Quepem to Margao driven by Luis Jose
Madeira, resident of Fatorda Margao, dashed against the scooter driven by said
umesh and dragged him along with the scoter to the distance of around 9 mts.
Due to the injuries succumbed on the body said Umesh died on the spot.
Immediately he was rushed to Hospicio Hospital Margao where he was formally
declared dead.
Police arrested the driver of the truck and booked him under section 279 and
304-A of IPC for negligent driving and for causing death by rash and negligent
driving.
Havaldar Chandrakant Rane under the supervision of P.I Prabodh Shirvoikar is
investigating the matter further.
