Roland, as you and I and anyone who has worked in the
Gulf knows, it is almost unimaginable for a European
(notably the Brits) in the Gulf to be reporting to an
Asian. Infact, there's a common joke that most
companies in the Gulf are European managed and Indian
run.

So, I got a certain joy in reading Business week, to
note that Tata motors is set to bid on Jaguar and Land
Rover, which is currently owned by Ford. Imagine that,
an Indian owning Jaguar.

Also in this list was Sun Pharmaceuticals, bidding for
Israeli giant Taro pharmaceutical, Suzlon Energy
owning the controlling interests in German REpower
Systems, and ofcourse the now famous Tata Steel and
Corus deal.

Indian companies are definitely coming of age, and
this despite the government that we have rather than
because of it.
