There are many things that I normally do not agree with what Chinmay Bhandare
writes, often the tone he uses. However, in this case, I find myself in
agreement with what he has to say that the Muslims in Chimbel have done the
sensible thing by not insisting on having a loud speaker on their mosque, and
at the same time effectively solved their need to be called for prayers. As
Chinmany has said this is a good model for all to follow.

In today's day and age, when people have clocks and watches, the need to call
them for prayer by use of a loud speaker is not necessary. Use of modern
methods for calculating the sighting of the moon is used by countries like
Saudi Arabia and the date of their festivals like Ed are announced well in
advance. This enables the people to better plan their activities, as well as
not inconveniencing themselves. In countries like India, where some of the
festivals are public holidays, the last minute changes affect the rest of the
people as well.
