Dears; India has started to issue Haque apostille with effect from August, 2007. As the Haque convention clearly abolishes the requirement of legalization of foreign documents. (i.e the documents created or originating in a country which is a party of this PARTICULAR CONVENTION irrespective of the fact being a non-member state of the Haque Conference need not be legalized by embassy/consulate for producing in that country).
As stiplulated in http://hcch.e-vision.nl/index_en.php?act=status.comment&csid=929&disp=type Portugal has raise an objection after the given time limit for filing objections and hence this objection has been OVERRULED by the haque commitee. We all need to know that whether documents bearing haque apostille given by india shall be recognized by CRC and at several applicable places in portugal or NOT? Or is it the consular or embassy legalization/attestation still mandatory. If YES, then it clearly violates the international law of the Haque convention. Comments and facts prevailing invited. Shashikant.
