ELEVENTH Annual NEST Conference will be held in Chorao, Goa from 10 am 26th  
November 2007 to 5.00pm 27th November 2007.  

Theme: TRANSNATIONAL CORPORATIONS, PEOPLE AND THE STATE 
Possible areas of deliberations for the conference are as follows:
 
1.      TNCs, Land Snatchers; Special Economic Zones, Free Port, Coastal 
Invasions, Tourism, Industry and Agriculture.

2.      TNCs and the Environment: Air, Water, Solid Waste Hazards, e-waste and 
climate.

3.      TNCs: Workers and Womens’ Issues.

4.      TNCs: Health, Medicine and Education.

5.      TNCs: Art, Culture, Language, Aesthetics and Sports.

6.      TNCs, Science and Technology: Information technology Energy, Defense 
and Security                Apparatus.

7.      TNCs and the International Scenario: Africa, Asia and Latin America.

8.      Crisis and Internal Contradictions of TNCs.

9.      Peoples Movements against the TNCs: Jal, Jungle, Jameen, Dams and 
Rehabilitation, Mines, Food and Fishery.

10.     Any other related issues.

Registration fee for earning: Rs.250/-  Non-earning: Rs. 150/- (Inclusive of 
boarding and lodging for both the days). Stying arrangements in Chorao will be 
from 25th November 2007 onwards .

The venue is Mahale Hall, Pandavadda, Chorao Island, close to Panjim City  with 
one ferry crossing at Ribander.

NOTE ON NEST:

NEST stands for Nature Environment Society and Transformations. It’s founder is 
Dr. Bikram Dasgupta, Department of Chemistry, Goa University, Goa. Besides its 
Annual Conferences, number of small reflective and interactive sessions 
participated by Academics, workers, common People, Artists, Intellectuals; 
thereby creating an interface between them. The group is also involved in 
solidarity meets with different groups of people threatened by development 
paradigm.
