A good exchange between Jason and Chinmay! However, I wonder whether another approach would be more successful in addressing ideological and fundamentalist threats. I have noticed that all these ideological scuffles are big on rhetoric. They also waste a lot of words on demeaning the sundry personalities involved in these skirmishes. Eventually, almost invariably, this becomes a counterproductive obsession.
What if instead one made a deliberate effort to constrain oneself to addressing only the facts of each case? I submit that leaving rhetoric and personalities out of a debate might be a better strategy to defend and promote reason over ideology.
