Niraj starts as the 13th seed
A total of 128 boys are participating in the National Under 11 Chess
Championships which got underway today in Kozhikode, Kerala. Of these, 48
are rated players and the top seed is FIDE Master G.V. Sai Krishna (ELO
2167). The second and third seeds are World Under 10 Champion FIDE Master
Girish Kaushik (ELO 2086) and the 2007 Under 10 Asian Champion Shardul
Gagare (ELO 2080) respectively.
Goa's Niraj Saripalli (ELO 1967) starts as the 13th seed. He is accompanied
by his coach Akash Thakur for the event. In the Girls section,
the top seed is Sweety Patel (ELO 1983). There are 64 participants in the
Girls section of which seven are rated. This eleven round tournament
concludes on 31st October.
