Anamika, I do agree that personally Manohar Parrikar stands heads and shoulders
above the current lot. However, he carries a lot of unwanted baggage with him.
Should he leave the BJP and the hindutva ideology and form a regional party, I
am sure he will find many takers. His rule was highlighted by the following
dissiparious acts:
1.stacking the media, home, police and other sensitive departments with RSS
sympathizers.
2. handing over government schools to the RSS to run.
3. coming out with a venomous VCD and distributing it to schools to poison the
minds of innocent school children.
4.communalism Goan society by encouraging the sangh parivar in its anti-social
acts like vandalising Altinho.

It has been said very often that A B Vajpayee was the right man in the wrong
party. And this was proved many times including Gujarat, when he first
expressed his anguish at what was happening there but when he returned to his
moorings in the RSS, he gave that famous speech at Goa when he blamed the
victims for their own misfortune. Such are the compulsions of being surrounded
by an extremist ideology. Unless Parrikar is able to break away from the RSS,
it is doubtful whether he will gain wide acceptance. The RSS have a way of
imposing their wishes on their members which are detrimental to society.
Unfortunately, Parrikar also lacks credibility. The way he tried to topple the
Congress govt with the help of scoundrels like Churchill and Babush after
stating that he would not stake a claim unless he obtained a majority on his
own has hurt his standing and credibility immensely.

Parrikar has also shown that he lacks ethics and values, the qualities of a
good statesman. The way the BJP forged the signature of the then Deputy Speaker
in order to disqualify him is still fresh in the mind. Power at any cost is not
appreciated.

Goa does need good people, but people who will carry all sections of society
with them.

Cheers!!!

Marshall
