‘BJP caused loss of Rs 8 cr to GIDC’
BY HERALD REPORTER
PANJIM, OCT 25 – GIDC chairman, Babu Kavlekar meanwhile charged the BJP of
making Rs 8 crore loss to the Goa IDC during their regime.
He said that during their tenure the 82 plots were sold at the rate of Rs 375
from 2001 to 2005 and the rate was not hiked.
It is only during our tenure we hiked the rate from Rs 375 to Rs 600, he said
adding the difference of the 82 plots sold amounts to approximately Rs 8 crore.
Asked why the rates of plots at Verna Phase I, II and III were revised from 600
to 750 while the Phase IV was kept untouched, the GIDC managing director A V
Palekar stated the simple reason was it was undeveloped.
“While the other phases had lights and water facilities the phase IV didn’t
have the same so the rates had to be kept untouched,” he said.
To a query as to why they considered the application of Planet view Mercantile,
which was not registered as alleged by Parrikar, he said the allegations were
false.
The company can apply for land as promoters and their application was
considered but the allotment was done only after it was registered, he stated.
