Parrikar seeks Vasco residents support for electing bjp candidate
NT News Service Vasco, Oct 28 The former chief minister and Leader of the Opposition, Mr Manohar Parrikar today said that the time has come to teach lessons to the state Congress leaders by electing the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, Dr Wilfred Mesquita and keeping away the Congress candidate from the South Goa Lok Sabha seat. Mr Parrikar was addressing the public meeting jointly organised by Vasco and Mormugao BJP mandals, opposite the Mormugao municipal building on Saturday evening. On the occasion, the Siolim MLA, Mr Dayanand Mandrekar, Mormugao MLA, Mr Milind Naik, MMC chairperson, Mr Manish Arolkar, former BJP state unit president, Mr Rajendra Arlekar, Mr Mathany Saldanha, BJP candidate for South Parliamentary by-election, Dr Wilfred Mesquita, Mr Digambar Amonkar, Mr Ashish Shirodkar, Mr Jayant Jadhav besides others were present on the dais. Coming down heavily on the nuclear power issue, Mr Parrikar said that the central government will collapse of its own and that the state government will also collapse upon its own. He also alleged that the state government is having no care for the common people in the state and now the time has come to give big blow to the Congress leaders by electing the BJP candidate. The Lok Sabha candidate for BJP in South, Dr Wilfred Mesquita said that the Congress-led government is the worst government ever at the Centre which has put the burden of taxes resulting into the price hike of essential commodities. Dr Mesquita has strongly opposed the SEZs in the state and further stated that there is no requirement of the SEZs for the small state of Goa. Mr Rajendra Arlekar highlighted the issue of water and power shortage affecting the common man in the state and further urged the people to take this as an opportunity and give reply to the Congress candidate during the Lok Sabha by-election. Mr Mathany Saldanha said that the Congress government is not for the interest of the common man.
